Endnote, the tool for reference management at Maastricht University

Endnote is both a Reference Database and Bibliography Manager

A Reference Database: Endnote allows you to build and maintain a database of all your references (preferably imported from electronic sources elsewhere). The main functions of such programs are:

• Maintenance of a database of references.
• Downloading references from other databases.

A Bibliography Manager: Endnote works in parallel with Word. Thus you can:

• Use the database to link to references in word-processed documents.
• Generate a bibliography in the correct style following the 'instructions to authors' you need to succesfully submit your articles.

The University Library of Maastricht has a site licence for EndNote (via SURF), which permits all members of the University to use the software both at work and at home. For information on how to obtain and install the software, see the ICTS website on licences:

Download the Endnote program for free (UM students and staff only). University Library supports the use of Endnote 9.

University Library supports version 9. You may have a reason to convert backwards to version 7. This link provides the steps involved in tranferring a version 9 endnote library down to version 7.
