INTRODUCTION
Normally one searches bibliographies (e.g. PubMed, PsycInfo) and
catalogues and import downloads from these using the specific import filters. For some reasons it
might be convenient to use the endnote search engine itself as search engine for (remote)
databases as described. This functionality comes with the so-called
"connection-files" in endnote. For the University Library situation the
"library catalogue connection file" may be of special interest to our clients
(see lower on this page)

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS
Save the connection of your choice from the table below in your \endnote\connections directory
Mark the connection files of your choice: since in Endnote4 ALL available connection files are in the endnote\connections directory (not divided in subdirectories anymore) you should MARK the connection files of their choice in the so-called Connection manager (menu File / Connection files / Open Connection Manager). To select (and easily mark) the connection files provided by us in Endnote4 click on the "Information Provider" column in the Connection Manager and scroll to "university library Maastricht" in this column to find our connection files grouped together. Marked connection files will pop-up immediately if one selects the "Connect" option in the file menu. Unmarked connection files are more or less hidden
To save the separate connection file(s) from the table beneath to your \endnote\connections directory just click on the connection files(s) of your choice in the Endnote connection files column in the table below. Take care the connection files is saved under its correct connection-name
MAC USERS: How to convert Endnote connection files
from Windows to your Mac!:
Nico Rozendaal (neuropsychology dep.) kindly prepared a
convertion utility to convert filters, styles en connection files, originally developed
for windows, to mac. Moreover, he and his colleagues maintain a
special site for the Mac. In case
you want more background
information about conversion from endnote-windows to endnote-mac, just go there.
To just convert (one of) the connection files from the table below to mac
functionality:
Download a specific (hqx encoded) convertion file first (provided by Nico Rozendaal)
Decode the file
Download the connection file(s) from the table below to your desktop
Remove the .enz extension for your convenience (optional)
Drop the connection file(s) from the desktop to the convertion file
Put the connection file(s) in the connections folder (within the EndNote folder on your hard disk)
This facility is here from August 9th 2000, please refer to Jeroen ten Haaf or Nico Rozendaal in case of any problem or question
