Settlements for downloads from UL facilitated WebSPIRS databases (MedlineADV, PsycInfo, EMBASE, IFLP, Econlit etc.)

When you choose the "Save" or "Mail" button from the search screen in WebSPIRS after you finished searching (and marking some records) you're prompted to select some options within three sections:

1) "Save (Send) These Records"
If you have marked one or more records in the search screen, WebSPIRS selects 'marked record(s)' by default. However, you are free in selecting one of the two other options ('All records' or 'Record number' range).

2) "Save (Send) These Fields"
WebSPIRS selects 'Displayed Fields' by default regrettably. You are strongly advised to change this setting to: 'Complete Record' in order to gather all available information in your endnote library in the end.

3) "Also Save (Send)"
WebSPIRS selects 'Search History' and 'Short labels' settings by default. It is advised not to change these settings: if you change from 'Short labels' to another setting, endnote will NOT recognise the download!

Now you are ready to save (or send) your selection: it is advised to dedicate a specific name to the downloadfile in order to easily recognise it when importing into your endnote library.

How to import downloads from bibliographic sources in EndNote: the correct use of importfilters

Because each bibliographic database has a more or less unique downloadformat (variation of 'field tags' and the way information in a field is structured), data from such a download should be filtered. EndNote comes with a lot of standard importfilters. The University Library provides a set of importfilters specifically developed for downloads from databases facilitated by the Library. In the 'computerruimtes' in the Learning Resources Center these are loaded in EndNote. If EndNote is used at home,

How to make EndNote your personal assistant in formatting your manuscript according to "instructions to authors", "richtlijnen voor het maken van een werkstuk", etc.
